It is important to consider a number of factors, such as pre-existing conditions and to speak with your doctor. It is also important to consider your end goals and the possible risks.

What is a Detox Diet?

A detox diet is a form of waste and toxin removal from one’s body. While this may not necessarily have been medically proven to be true, the vast majority of people who participate in detoxes swear they feel significantly better after their brief yet impactful detox commitment. The results are often that you will experience more energy and a greater sense of focus. Even if they do not remove more toxins than your kidneys and liver already do, they will clean your body from the chemicals in processed foods, sugar and alcohol during your break from such items. This will no doubt have a positive impact on your body, cells and organs.

Types of Detox Diets

You will find a number of detox programs that offer varying results. Some detox plans focus on fast weight loss. Some plans will focus on the incorporation of specific antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients, and your body needs this to be able to function. Other programs will concentrate on an increase in water consumption and fiber-rich foods to improve the frequency in which you urinate and have bowel movements. You might choose a fasting detox. Or you might just follow a program that requires you only drink fruit and vegetable juice rather than to eat food.
